The signal

Nothing this window changes the picture.

Since last brief

  • AP’s wire coverage of Anthropic’s “Claude leads 26% of its own R&D” disclosure (first reported here Sept 18) went wide today, and Microsoft AI’s Mustafa Suleyman used it to stake out a counter-position: he wants “humanist superintelligence,” AI that stays “carefully calibrated, contextualized, within limits” rather than an “unbounded and unlimited entity with high degrees of autonomy.” darioamodei’s Anthropic still says it would pause development if competitors did the same, verifiably. Tools worth touching

security-audit-skill (Cloudflare)

  • Does: runs a six-phase agent fleet, three-agent recon, per-vulnerability-class hunters, adversarial validators, structured findings.json, then a fresh agent that independently re-verifies every finding before it’s reported.
  • Why now: trending on GitHub today, grew out of Cloudflare’s own internal vulnerability-harness writeup; it’s a working answer to “how do I get a coding agent to actually find real bugs instead of hallucinating plausible ones.”
  • Try if: you want a repeatable security-audit skill for Claude Code that verifies its own findings before surfacing them.
  • Skip if: you need compliance-grade coverage in one pass. Cloudflare’s own numbers say a single run only catches about half the bugs that multiple runs together find, so budget for repeats.

Other

  • claude-code shipped v2.1.278: Enterprise, Bedrock, Vertex, Foundry, and gateway users now default to a server-side auto-mode classifier that drops the classifier-overhead billing; opt out with CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_SERVER=0. changelog (primary)
