Other

  • bcherny is running an experiment where a single Claude Code instance has been autonomously rewriting the Claude Mac desktop app in Swift for 14-15 days straight, with no human in the loop. The model spawned its own Slack channel and posts screenshots of progress every few minutes. The demo is live as of August 2; Gruber flagged it on Daring Fireball. Separately at YC Startup School, Cherny disclosed that when Opus 5 shipped, the team deleted 80% of Claude Code’s system prompt line by line and the model scored better — most lines never came back. There is an undocumented flag CLAUDE_CODE_SIMPLE=1 that strips the remaining prompts; Cherny says “you can try deleting the rest too.” Daring Fireball (independent) · HN thread (community) · YC Startup Library (primary)
