Both Outstanding Paper Awards went to diffusion research: “The flexibility trap: Rethinking arbitrary order in diffusion language models” (Ni et al.) and “High-Accuracy Sampling for Diffusion Models and Log-Concave Distributions” (Chen et al.). The main story: Meta defaulted every public adult Instagram account into the likeness-access pool, letting any user enter someone’s handle and generate AI remixes of their face without notification or consent.
